Welcome to The Bespoke Sole — a place built by someone who believes a fine pair of shoes deserves to be understood, cared for, and worn for decades, not seasons.
I get asked the same two questions again and again: how do you choose good shoes, and how do you keep them looking their best? This site is my answer. It’s where I put everything I’ve learned about buying dress shoes wisely, caring for them properly, and appreciating the craft that goes into them — so that instead of explaining it piece by piece, I can point people here.

Where the obsession started
My love of shoes started early, and modestly. Growing up, each of us kids got one new pair a year — and that single pair had to survive the whole year. It usually wasn’t built to.
So I learned to make it last. I taught myself to clean, condition, and polish until I could bring a tired, scuffed pair back to something I was proud to wear. That habit — treating shoes as something worth maintaining rather than replacing — became a genuine fascination with how fine footwear is made and how it’s kept alive.
I still remember standing in a department store as a kid, wanting more than the one pair I was allowed, and deciding then that I’d work to build the kind of collection I dreamed about. Years later, that early fixation on care and quality is exactly what this site is built on.
